This month we traveled to a local farm and got to pick our own organically grown concord grapes. We have been busy in the kitchen making grape pies, grape juice and grape jam!
Here are some helpful tips on how we removed the skins and seeds from our delicious Concord Grapes!
1. Remove Grapes from stems and wash thoroughly! This is a great activity for kids, mine where extremely BIG helpers! |
2. Place the eye, or spot where the stem was attached to the grape down into your bowl or pot. |
3. Gently Squeeze the opposite end and the pulp should simply come out. |
4. Keep skins separated from grape pulp. |
6. Place grape pulp in a pot and cook over medium low heat for about 15 minutes. Occasionally mash the pulp with a potato masher to help break down the pulp. |
7. Remove pulp from heat and place in a food mill or strainer to remove seeds. |
Now you can proceed with your recipe as needed.
Stay tuned as we will be posting our Concord Grape Pie Recipe, Concord Grape Juice Recipe & Concord Grape Jam Recipe!
