My husband has been using this homemade deodorant spray for several weeks and he says, “it seems to work pretty good!” My husband is a sweeter and it’s not pretty, so if it works for him I think it will work for you too!
I just used an old Bath & Body Works Body Spray bottle that I had been saving and it was the perfect size for this recipe.
This is a variation from the recipe I found on Marilyn Farms. They suggest using purified water and we just used tap water and it seems to work fine.

I have been canning away the past several weeks and one hazard of that is… fruit flies! So I began my search for a quick and easy solution for taking care of these pesky critters. I was amazed to find this homemade solution that worked extremely well!

- Just take a scrap of paper (here you can see I used an old envelope), roll the paper into a cone shape. Leave a very small hole at the the end of the cone for the fruit flies to crawl threw, but not to big that they will be able to fly out!
- Put some fruit scraps or something sweet in a jar.
- Place the small end of the cone inside the jar.
- Seal the paper to the jar, so the fruit flies can not escape.
- Your done! Wait for the little critters to fall into the trap and then take outside and release!

In less than an hour I had fruit flies in my jar! I have been using this method for the past several weeks and it has worked beautifully!

TIP: Essential oils can vary in strength depending on type and brand, so I suggest adding a few drops at a time and testing the toothpaste to get the desired strength you prefer.
This recipe is not like traditional toothpaste so it may take some getting used to. After brushing my teeth for the first time I could tell a difference. My teeth felt much smoother and clean. The smell however is not strong like that of traditional toothpaste. It leaves a more neutralized smell with a hint of peppermint.
I came across many different types of toothpaste recipes with all different ingredients. I wanted to know why and how these ingrediates were used and I thought you might like to also so I have listed what I found below:
I found this recipe online at Tammy’s Recipes and pinned it to my DIY Natural Beauty products board on pinterest! Come follow me on pinterest?

This homeschool term we are learning to make paper beads as our handicraft. This is a great way to reuse old magazines as well as make some frugal gifts! We are in the processing of making necklaces, bracelets & earrings from our paper beads. I will post those when we have completed them.

Here is a picture of the supplies you will need:
- magazine
- ruler
- pen or pencil
- scissors
- toothpicks
- styrofoam or clay
- liquid glue or glue stick
- Q-tip or brush
1. Find a magazine page with an interesting picture or design, then flip the sheet over to reveal the “wrong side”.

2. On the “wrong side” mark the short edges of the paper every 1 inch, then begin drawing lines from the corner to the nearest one inch mark on the opposite side of the paper. Once completed you will have a series of triangles.

3. Next you will want to cut out all of the triangles that you just drew.

4. Now your ready to roll your bead. Take one strip of paper and place your toothpick on the wrong side. Then make a small crease at the large end of the paper around your toothpick.
5. Now gently roll the paper around the toothpick. You will want to make sure you hold the paper tight against the toothpick. I like to hold the bead between my thumb and middle finger on my left hand while I twist the toothpick with my right hand. (I am right handed.) In this picture my daughter is rolling it while holding it against the table.

6. Right before you get to the end of your paper you will want to take your Q-tip and dip it in the glue and then rub it on the tip of the paper. Roll remaining paper.

7. When you are done rolling your bead, place the toothpick in styrofoam or here we are using play-dough, until the bead dries. Optional: You can coat the outside of your bead with glue to give it a shiny appearance.

Here is the finished product! Now use your paper beads to made some really unique necklaces, bracelets, earrings, bookmarks, and more!

I have one of those automatic air fresheners that I got for free when I used to extreme coupon, but now that I am starting to eliminate harmful chemicals from our home I no longer want to use it. I had tossed it into my free box at our garage sale and surprisingly, no one took it. So I decided to try and use essential oils in it and it worked GREAT! I think it smelled better than when I was breathing the wonderful smelling toxic chemicals!
Here is what I did:
- Use a knife to pop the top off of the plastic container.
- Put about 20 drops of your favorite essential oils.
(I have been using sweet orange in one and lavender in the other one and they smell soooo good!)
- Fill the remainder of the container with water.
- Replace cap and shake well.
- Place in your automatic air freshener, plug-in and enjoy!
I have noticed the essential oil refills do not seem to last as long as the standard refills, but they smell so much better! Now the essential oils are a little pricy up front but in the long run you will save more money using essential oils verses buy the standard refills and you will no longer be emitting potentially toxic chemicals into your air!
